Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How does a pawn shop work?

A. Pawn shops are regulated by state and federal laws and offer customers an alternative lending option to traditional loans from financial institutions, credit cards or family members in order to meet short-term cash needs. The biggest benefit is cash on the spot, in exchange for items of value that serve as collateral for loan repayment. Items that are not reclaimed at the end of the redemption period are then placed for sale. There is an agreed upon interest rate and time frame that this loan must be paid back. Once the loan is paid, the item is returned to you.

Q. How can I be sure the merchandise I purchase at a pawn shop is not stolen?

A. Less than one fifth of one percent of all collateral is even suspect as having been misappropriated in any manner. Thieves and robbers are our worst enemy. We work closely with local law enforcement to catch and prosecute these perpetrators. A customer must provide positive picture identification to show evidence of the transaction. This information is then presented to the police department, therefore decreasing the likelihood that a thief would bring stolen merchandise to a resale shop. We are trained to look for signs of stolen property to avoid these costly mistakes. it is not in our interest to accept potentially stolen merchandise because the police can seize the merchandise. You must also be at least 18 years old to sell merchandise.

Q. Will you beat a verified offer from a competitor on gold?

A. Yes, our goal is to be the highest payer for gold in Michigan. We will beat any offer from a competitor as long as we can verify that the offer is a valid legitimate quote.

Q. How often do your gold prices change?

A. Gold prices change every second of the day Monday - Friday. The gold market is closed on the weekends. You can see the gold price ticker on our "Home" page. Our price for gold does not change every second like the gold market but can change 1 or more times a day. If we give you a price on a Tuesday and you come in on Thursday, there is a good chance that the price could be higher or lower. We pay based on what our prices are at the exact moment you come in to sell.

Q. My old rings have no markings on them, how do I know what they are made of?

A. We test every piece of jewelry before we buy it. We can tell if the gold is 10K, 14K, 18K, 22K or something in between. If your jewelry is gold filled, gold plated or not gold at all, we can tell as soon as we test it. If you're not sure what you have, please bring it in to us and we will be happy to tell you.

Q. Do I need to make an appointment to sell my gold, diamond or watch?

A. Just come on in! You don't need an appointment to sell any item.
